For boosting innovation and use of technology in agriculture and other sectors, the Prime Minister of India stressed on the need to promote startups and entrepreneurs. In order to solve identified problems and design needs for tools and equipment that can reduce drudgery.
IEEE Computer Society, National Informatics Centre (NIC), and Oracle India have come together for solving some of the high priority challenges through a nation-wide 36 hours virtual Hackathon, Gov-TechThon 2020.
NIC has collated 5 challenges from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in India. Listed below are the challenges NIC is seeking solutions through the GovTech-Thon 2020:
AI-based Alternate Crop Recommendation Seed Certification using Blockchain technology Facilitation of Document Upload for Online Applications Unsupervised Test Platform / Tool Automation of Vehicle Fitness Test.
The participation is open to students, working professionals, start-ups, freelancers, faculty, or anyone in India who has ideas or solutions to the problem statements. This virtual hackathon seeks innovative solutions/approaches to defined problem statements. The team with a maximum of 5 participants need to collaborate virtually for solving the problems.
1st Prize: Rs. 2,25,000.00
2nd Prize: Rs. 1,25,000.00
3rd Prize: Rs. 85,000.00, All participants get a certificate of participation
Schedule: The 36 hours’ virtual hackathon starts at 5:00 PM on 30 Oct 2020.

In view of the above, AICTE request to your institute to disseminate this information among your students to participate in the IEEE Gov-TechThon 2020 Virtual Hackathon in collaboration with NIC, Government of India and Oracle India so they can avail the benefit.
