About the department

Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply.
Major Areas of Electrical Engineering are Power Generation & Transmission, Automation & Control, Renewable / Clean Energy, Energy Audit and Consumer Durables.
Electrical engineering may include electronic engineering. Where a distinction is made, usually outside of the United States, electrical engineering is considered to deal with the problems associated with large-scale electrical systems such as power transmission and motor control, whereas electronic engineering deals with the study of small-scale electronic systems including computers and integrated circuits. Alternatively, electrical engineers are usually concerned with using electricity to transmit energy, while electronic engineers are concerned with using electricity to transmit information. More recently, the distinction has become blurred by the growth of power electronics.

Mission The mission elements of Electrical Engineering Department are:
M-1. To prepare students for fundamentals in Electrical and Computational Technology, keeping environmental aspects.
M-2. To undertake the foundation of research for systems involving emerging fields of Electrical Engg. i.e the renewable enrgy concept.
M-3. To impart professional skills for solving real-life problems.

Achievements

S.No. Activity
1 Vikram Sheoran Roll No. 1210757 has secured 98.8% in CAT exam held in November’13.
2 Manjeet Singh, Roll No. 1210727, has cleared the F-CAT exam for the armed forces, held recently and has gone for final stage of interview.

• 52 alumni of the department are working as SDOs in UHBVN and DHBVN (Govt. Sector).

A workshop was conducted in department of ELE on 13-4-18 for 2nd and 3rd year students by APTRON SOLUTIONS PVT LTD Gurugram in which 30 students has attended the workshop

Guest Lecture

A guest lecture by adjunct faculty Dr. S.P Jain former retired professor NIT Kurukshetra has delivered a lecture in Electrical department on 10-4-18 & 12-04-18 on symmetrical Fault & Building algorithms for bus impedance matrix

Gate Revolution

A add on session on how to prepare for gate exam or higher study was conducted in the department of Electrical Engg. on 12-3-18 by Gate Revolution, Patiala for the students of 2nd and 3rd year.
