Applied Electronics & Instrumentation


This department started in 1996 with an intake of 40 students. In 1998, the intake increased to 60 students. This branch is interdisciplinary encompassing Electrical, Mechanical Chemical and control branches. Consequently some of the laboratories are also used by other departments.
The Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering is a hardcore branch of Engineering, which deals with Measurement, Control and Automation. It is a highly interdisciplinary branch which covers major aspects of Chemical, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The curriculum of Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering involves design of instruments and their applications. Further, installation, commissioning and maintenance of Instrumentation systems are integral part of Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. Instrumentation Engineers are the leaders for Automation and Control. Instrumentation and Control includes electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation systems along with tools required for the automation e.g. DCS, PLC, SCADA. These tools are integral part of process industries, refineries, petrochemical industries, building automation and many more. Biomedical Instrumentation is also an important course in Instrumentation. Control, Computation and Analysis are essential aspects of any modern Instrumentation and Control system. Therefore, Digital Signal Processing, Embedded Systems, Photonics and Analytical Instrumentation are important areas for design and manufacturing of modern instruments and control systems. Growing requirement of control and computing has created a large space for “Research in Instrumentation”. Because of this specific type of background an Instrumentation Engineer can choose a career in a wide range of engineering areas including IT industries.

About the Department
Welcome to the department of Chemical Engineering at JMIT, Radaur. The Chemical Engineering department is one the oldest department of the institute which was established in the year 1999-2000. The faculties are engaged in the Research & Development activities and sponsored project from funding agency like DST, are ongoing at present. Faculty at the department believes in open interactions with students who are encouraged to participate in academic, research and extracurricular activities. Students have never misplaced trust put in them by department and have done well in academic and industry alike. Students passed out from this department get excellent placements through campus selection in the core area industries. Some of the students choose to go for higher studies from reputed institute like IITs, NITs, PUNJAB UNIVERSITY. Alumni of the department are very well placed in various sectors and have reached to the top level positions.

The department has well equipped laboratories in all the subjects of basic sciences like Physics, Organic, Inorganic and Physical chemistry subjects. Computer Science & Engineering


Computer science or computing science (sometimes abbreviated CS) is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation, and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems. It is frequently described as the systematic study of algorithmic processes that create, describe, and transform information. Computer science has many sub-fields; some, such as computer graphics, emphasize the computation of specific results, while others, such as computational complexity theory, study the properties of computational problems. Still others focus on the challenges in implementing computations. For example, programming language theory studies approaches to describe computations, while computer programming applies specific programming languages to solve specific computational problems, and human-computer interaction focuses on the challenges in making computers and computations useful, usable, and universally accessible to people.
The general public sometimes confuses computer science with careers that deal with computers (such as information technology), or think that it relates to their own experience of computers, which typically involves activities such as gaming, web-browsing, and word-processing. However, the focus of computer science is more on understanding the properties of the programs used to implement software such as games and web-browsers, and using that understanding to create new programs or improve existing ones.

Electrical Engineering


Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply. It now covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications. Electrical engineering may include electronic engineering. Where a distinction is made, usually outside of the United States, electrical engineering is considered to deal with the problems associated with large-scale electrical systems such as power transmission and motor control, whereas electronic engineering deals with the study of small-scale electronic systems including computers and integrated circuits.Alternatively, electrical engineers are usually concerned with using electricity to transmit energy, while electronic engineers are concerned with using electricity to transmit information. More recently, the distinction has become blurred by the growth of power electronics.

Electronics & Communication Engineering


The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the major Departments of the Institute. The Undergraduate course i.e. B.Tech (ECE) was introduced in 1995 with the intake of 60 students, which has now been increased upto 120. The main emphasis is laid on fundamental concepts as well as on the latest technologies, both in theory and practical work to prepare the students for the vast field of Electronics & Communication Engineering. The department is housed in a newly built building having modern amenities. The laboratories are well equipped with the latest software and hardware tools to give a practical hand to the students. A Seminar Hall, fully equipped with audio-visual aids and with the seating capacity of 120 students has been facilitated in the department. At times this department organizes the Guest Lectures for the students to bridge the gap between Industry and Academics. A special two hour regular course has been introduced in the department to give students a hand on experience of Electronic Engineering tools which are used in Industries.
From Session 2006-07 the department got affiliation by Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra to undertake a course in M. Tech. Electronics & Communication Engineering with the intake of 18 students. Now the seats have been increased upto 30 from the session of 2013-14. The main focus is laid on the areas of Communication Engineering, Signal Processing, Image Processing, VLSI Design, Design of Antennas and Evolutionary Computing. Our students have cleared national level completions including GATE, GRE, and other public sector. Students are pursuing M. Tech & MBA from various reputed institute such as IITs and NITs.
The main objective of the Department is “Excellence, Innovation and Creativity in Teaching-Learning, Research and Technology development”. The competent and experienced faculty is involved in providing Quality Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

Information Technology


As it pertains to technology, IT spans a wide variety of areas that include but are not limited to things such as processes,computer software, computer hardware, programming languages, and data constructs. In short, anything that renders data,information or perceived knowledge in any visual format whatsoever, via any multimedia distribution mechanism, is considered part of the domain space known as Information Technology (IT).
IT professionals perform a variety of functions (IT Disciplines/Competencies) that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. A few of the duties that IT professionals perform may include data management, networking, engineering computer hardware, database and software design, as well as management and administration of entire systems. Information technology is starting to spread farther than the conventional personal computer and network technology, and more into integrations of other technologies such as the use of cell phones, televisions, automobiles, and more, which is increasing the demand for such jobs.
The department was started in the year 2000 with an intake of 60 students. The department offers B.Tech program in the area of IT .The department of information technology is committed to impart up-to-date knowledge to the students related to current and future technology. Besides theoretical knowledge the main focus is to give the student more practical knowledge. The department is housed in a newly built building having an area of 1749 sq. mtrs. The department has well equipped and air conditioned laboratories each with a capacity of 22 computer machines. The faculty members give the students hands on approach in the use of IT principles and the opportunity to develop creative approaches to solving the problems.

Mechanical Engineering

The department was started in 1999 with an intake of 60 students. The department intake has been increased to 120 students from session 2006-07. With a competent qualified faculty, Mechanical Engineering education at JMIT Radaur is more than classroom lectures. Laboratory experiments are conducted in well-maintained laboratories. The faculty members give the students a hands-on approach in the use of engineering principles and the opportunity to develop creative approaches to problems. The Mechanical Engineering student with a desire to learn will develop and expand his or her knowledge and skills in the areas of engineering sciences, testing techniques, material properties, analysis and evaluation along with communication. The available equipments, excellence in instruction and an emphasis on quality of education in Mechanical Engineering combined together to prepare the students to step into positions of responsibility at the leading edge of today’s technology.
Our students from preceding batch cleared National level competitions including GATE, GRE and pursuing M. Tech. from reputed institutions such as IITs, NITs, Thapar Univ., Patiala, PEC Chandigarh, DEC Delhi. Besides, students are employed in industries viz. Mahindra & Mahindra, TCS,Tech Mahindra, QH Talbros, ISGEC, FORD etc.
